Korea Midland Power Company and SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management Corporation are turning trash into treasure on a global scale.

The two organizations signed an agreement on March 30th to develop international greenhouse gas reduction projects that convert harmful methane emissions from landfills into usable electricity. It's a win for the climate and a win for communities struggling with poor waste management.

Here's how it works: landfills naturally produce methane, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide over 20 years. Instead of letting it escape into the atmosphere, the partnership will capture this gas and convert it into clean energy through power generation systems.
