Kyle Kirkwood just showed everyone why street racing is his specialty, capturing victory at Arlington's first-ever IndyCar Grand Prix and climbing to the top of the championship standings.

The 27-year-old from Jupiter, Florida, made a daring move with just 15 laps to go, slipping underneath four-time champion Alex Palou to take the lead. He held on through a caution-flag finish to claim his sixth career victory and fifth on a street course.

The race took place on a temporary 2.73-mile track nestled between the Dallas Cowboys' and Texas Rangers' stadiums. Despite some trouble during pit stops, Kirkwood's Andretti Global team dominated the event, with all three of their Honda cars finishing in the top four.

Palou, the three-time defending champion, praised Kirkwood's winning pass as "awesome" despite losing the race himself. The move happened on the final turn of 14 corners, a testament to Kirkwood's confidence and skill on the challenging circuit.

Marcus Ericsson made history of his own, earning his first pole position start after 171 races in the series. He led 15 laps before finishing fourth, while Australian driver Will Power rounded out the podium in third place.
