LA Tech Athletes Hit Record 3.42 GPA This Spring

Louisiana Tech student-athletes are rewriting what it means to be a champion, posting a record-breaking 3.42 GPA this spring while juggling practices, games, and travel schedules that would exhaust most people.

The numbers tell a powerful story of dedication. Across all 14 athletic programs, 699 student-athletes made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll, and 68 achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs for the spring quarter.

The success spread across nearly every team. Thirteen of the university's 14 programs posted GPAs above 3.0, with bowling leading the pack at 3.80, the program's second-highest mark ever.

Women's basketball and golf both shattered their own program records, hitting 3.65 and 3.69 respectively. Five additional programs, including soccer, softball, and volleyball, reached the impressive 3.5 threshold.

For the full academic year, the department maintained a 3.37 GPA while celebrating 33 graduates who completed their degrees. These athletes balanced early morning workouts, afternoon classes, evening practices, and weekend competitions while still excelling academically.

Among the spring's standout scholars, 193 student-athletes earned special academic distinction. Fifty-nine made the President's List with GPAs of 3.85 or higher, while 134 landed on the Dean's List with GPAs between 3.50 and 3.85.

These athletes demolish the outdated stereotype that sports and academics don't mix. They're proving that discipline, time management, and determination apply equally in the classroom and on the playing field. Their success shows young athletes everywhere that you don't have to choose between pursuing your athletic dreams and building a strong academic foundation.

The 23 spring graduates, including football players, volleyball stars, and track athletes, now carry degrees that will serve them long after their competitive careers end.
