Lagos Red Line Rail Extends to Airport Terminals

Getting to Lagos airport is about to become dramatically easier for millions of travelers across Nigeria's busiest city.

The Federal Government announced plans to extend the Lagos Red Line rail system directly to all terminals at Murtala Muhammed Airport. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo shared the news at the Invest Lagos 3.0 conference, revealing the extension will connect Ikeja Bus Stop to the domestic General Aviation Terminal, the MMA2 terminal, and the international wing.

The project marks a turning point for a city where airport access has long frustrated travelers. Lagos handles more air traffic than any other Nigerian airport, yet getting there has meant navigating congested roads and unpredictable travel times.

The rail extension builds on existing infrastructure rather than starting from scratch. Workers will connect the current Red Line endpoint at Ikeja Bus Stop through the Bi-Courtney Aviation Services facilities to reach all passenger terminals. The extension is set to begin construction soon.
