Law Student Wins DEI Scholarship Honoring Beloved Receptionist

A scholarship created to honor a beloved law firm receptionist just helped launch the career of a future advocate for underserved communities.

Clinton Jones, a first-year student at Campbell Law School, received the 2025 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship from Teague Campbell law firm. The award honors Charlotte W. Clark, who worked at the firm's front desk and dedicated her life to community service.

Jones brings an impressive commitment to service already. He volunteers with three pro bono projects including the Capital Case Assistance Project and Wake County Legal Support Center. He also serves as a Student Bar Association representative and participates in multiple student organizations focused on diversity in law.

In his personal statement, Jones described his dedication to becoming a visible example for young Black men entering the legal profession. He emphasized using the law to support communities that need it most, values that mirror Clark's own life of service.

Clark joined Teague Campbell in 2007 after working with the Attorney General's office. But her real passion showed outside office hours. She and her husband founded the Juniper Level Baptist Church Missionary Food Bank, spending countless hours providing food to families in need.

The scholarship is open to any student at a North Carolina law school who actively participates in diverse community initiatives. The firm's DEI Committee seeks legal talent committed to fostering awareness and appreciation of people from all backgrounds.
