Lawton Firefighters Save 6 Kids from Morning House Fire

Six children made it out of a burning house Tuesday morning in Lawton, Oklahoma, thanks to firefighters who ran straight into the flames to find them.

The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. at a home on SW C Avenue. When Lawton Fire Department crews arrived, the residence was already heavily involved in flames.

Firefighters didn't hesitate. They entered through the back of the home and began searching through thick smoke and intense heat.

Within minutes, crews located a child inside and carried them to safety. A second engine company arrived and continued the search, finding another child who was also quickly removed from the burning structure.

Outside, Lawton firefighters, police officers, and Memorial Health EMS teams worked together to provide immediate life-saving care. The coordinated response meant every second counted.

Two children were transported to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition. Their mother was also taken for treatment of injuries she sustained during the fire.

Four other children and their father were inside the home when the fire started. They managed to escape on their own without injuries.
