Sometimes the most ridiculous marketing ideas are the ones that work. When Big Star Sandwich Co. in New Westminster found out Liam Neeson was filming nearby in May 2017, they decided to take a shot.

The shop's manager put up a chalkboard sign out front with a simple offer: "Liam Neeson eats here for free." The other side played on his most famous role with "Come in and Get Taken by Our Sandwiches." Nobody actually expected anything to happen.

A few hours later, Neeson walked through the door. He slipped into his most intimidating voice and asked the question they'd been hoping for but never dared to expect: "Where is my free sandwich?"

The staff was speechless. They scrambled to take photos with the 64-year-old actor before he headed back to the set of Cold Pursuit, the film he was shooting in the area. The shop posted the moment to Instagram with a fittingly stunned caption: "Holy fk, it worked!"

Alex Johrden, the shop's director of operations, later confirmed they never thought he'd show. "We absolutely did not think he'd actually show up," he told HuffPost. They assumed he heard about the sign through production crew members who had been coming in all day.

Neeson didn't stick around to eat, but the shop made the most of the moment. They created a new menu item called "The Neeson" with lots of beef, bacon, hickory sticks, and spice that would "get revenge on you tomorrow." The revenge theme was perfectly on brand.
