Louisiana College Wins $300K Match for Student Scholarships

Students at Bossier Parish Community College just got a major boost toward finishing their degrees and launching careers, thanks to $300,000 in matching funds from Louisiana's Board of Regents Support Fund.

The money doubles donations from local businesses and organizations, creating permanent scholarship endowments that will support students for years to come. Six workforce scholarships received the match, covering high-demand fields like allied health, business, accounting, construction, and even opportunities specifically for student athletes.

The timing couldn't be better. Since 2018, the BPCC Foundation has awarded over $1 million in scholarships while maintaining an impressive 95% retention rate among recipients. That means students who receive this support stick with their programs and finish what they started.

Local partnerships made this possible. Bonvenu Bank, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, the Louisiana State Contractor's Licensing Board, and individual donors like John and Joanna Magale all contributed funds that qualified for the state match. Their investments in students essentially doubled overnight.
