Louisiana Workforce Commission Secretary Susie Schowen says the state added 33,000 people to its workforce over the past year. That growth reflects a wave of major economic development projects taking root across communities statewide.

A massive Hyundai steel mill is preparing to break ground in Ascension Parish, while SpaceX is developing a rocket launching complex along the coast in Vermilion Parish.

These mega projects are creating approximately 90,000 jobs when you count both direct employment and the ripple effects in surrounding communities. Workers are needed in construction, manufacturing, transportation, and infrastructure roles.
