Louisville Awards $132K in Scholarships to 11 JCPS Students

Eleven Jefferson County Public Schools students walked into a luncheon Monday with big dreams and walked out with the financial support to make them happen.

The Community Foundation of Louisville awarded each student a $12,000 Vogt Educational & Leadership Scholarship on March 16. The scholarships recognize students who excel not just in the classroom but in their communities too.

For recipient Elliot Brooks, the award changes everything. "It's going to allow me to not worry about as much student debt while still receiving an education that I really want," he said at the ceremony.

The luncheon gave students more than just financial support. They connected with community leaders and other scholarship recipients, building networks that could shape their futures.

Brooks captured what many students felt: "I'm feeling just excited. I'm proud. I want to see what the future holds for me and I'm ready to get out there."

The scholarships cover tuition, textbooks, and other essential school expenses. That means students can focus on learning instead of worrying about how to pay for it.

The Ripple Effect

Since its founding in 1999, the Vogt Scholarship program has invested more than $3.5 million in Louisville's brightest students. That's hundreds of young people who got to chase their dreams without crushing debt holding them back.

Each scholarship creates ripples far beyond one student. These educated, debt-free graduates return to their communities as teachers, doctors, engineers, and leaders. They lift up the next generation because someone lifted them up first.
