Man City Players Fund Free Youth Mentoring for a Year
Manchester City's squad donated six figures to fund a year of one-to-one mentoring for vulnerable young people in Manchester. The money supports City in the Community's program helping kids navigate difficult daily situations.
Manchester City players are putting their money where their hearts are, funding an entire year of free mentoring for vulnerable young people across Manchester.
The squad donated a six-figure sum to City in the Community, the club's charitable arm, to cover 12 months of personalized support through the City Mentoring programme. The donation gives at-risk youth access to one-on-one guidance when they need it most.
"For me, the kids are the most important part," said midfielder Rodri on behalf of the team. "This donation enables us to support them through difficult situations they might unfortunately live daily."
This marks the second year players have pooled their resources for the cause. Last year's contribution funded Soccer Schools that reached nearly 700 children across 465 hours of free football coaching.

The Ripple Effect
The gesture goes beyond writing a check. When the team takes the field against Brentford on Saturday, players will wear City in the Community branded jackets. The stadium itself will be renamed for the day as The City in the Community Etihad Stadium.
Defender Ruben Dias recorded travel announcements for trams and buses heading to the match. Local schoolchildren hand-drew the player graphics appearing on the club's social media.
For homegrown player Nico O'Reilly, who grew up in Manchester, the initiative hits close to home. "Growing up in Manchester and being part of that same community, it means a lot to me that we can give back," he said. "The fans support us week in, week out and always show us their love, so to show love back to the City in the Community participants is a great feeling."
The annual Community Matchday celebrates how professional athletes can use their platform to create lasting change in their own backyard.
