Manager Dives Into Traffic to Save Toddler in Mexico

When a toddler dashed into busy traffic outside his grocery store, Luis Cruz didn't hesitate for a second.

The Super King El Rey del Ahorro manager sprinted into the street and dove to grab the three-year-old girl, pulling her back just as a silver minivan screeched through the lane she was entering. Security footage captured the heart-stopping moment on Sunday afternoon in Puebla, Mexico.

The little girl had slipped from her mother's grip inside the store around 2 p.m. Another woman chased after the child but fell before she could reach her. That's when Cruz, who was working nearby, saw what was happening.

The video shows Cruz racing into the road and tackling the girl to safety. Car horns blare as he grabs her and pulls her backwards, both tumbling safely to the ground in the lane closest to the store. The minivan stops in the middle lane, mere feet from where they landed.

Cruz told local news outlet Tribuna Noticias that he acted on pure instinct. As a father himself, he said his parental instincts kicked in without a moment's thought.
