Marine Vet Stops Armed Robbery with Combat Training
A former Marine working on his truck fought off six teens who tried to carjack him at gunpoint in Maryland. His quick thinking and military training turned a terrifying situation into a story of courage.
When Jheyco Borda saw a gun pointed at his face Wednesday afternoon, his Marine Corps training kicked in before fear could take over.
The veteran was fixing his pickup truck outside his Oxon Hill, Maryland home when six teens surrounded him. One pointed a gun at his head and demanded his car keys, phone, and valuables.
Instead of freezing, Borda wrestled the armed teen to the ground. Surveillance video captured the entire confrontation, including the moment the gun went off during the struggle.
The bullet went through the back of his truck. Miraculously, no one was injured.
"I was just fixing my car, a normal day for me," Borda told Fox News Digital. "I saw the teens come by. The guy took a pistol up to my head and started asking me for the car keys, phone, everything."

Four male teens and two female teens participated in the attack. Borda's brother also rushed to help, confronting the group until they fled.
Why This Inspires
Borda's response shows how training and preparation can save lives in the most unexpected moments. He didn't go looking for trouble or trying to be a hero. He was simply working on his car when danger found him.
His years of military service gave him skills most people never need to use. When that moment came, muscle memory and discipline transformed fear into action.
Prince George's County Police have arrested two male suspects and are investigating the involvement of the other four teens. The swift response means these young people will face consequences before potentially harming someone else.
Borda said similar crimes have happened on his street before, including a vehicle theft two years ago in the exact same spot. His courage may have prevented this group from targeting other neighbors.
The veteran credits his Marine Corps combat training for saving his life that day, proof that the skills our service members learn continue protecting communities long after they return home.
