McKinney Gets New Mental Health Center for Young Adults

Young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, or ADHD now have a specialized treatment center designed just for them in McKinney, Texas.

BasePoint BreakThrough is opening its fourth location on June 17, bringing evidence-based mental health care tailored specifically for people ages 18-35. The new facility at 4601 Medical Center Drive recognizes what many treatment programs miss: emerging adults aren't teenagers anymore, but they're not fully independent adults either.

This developmental sweet spot requires its own approach. BasePoint's program combines treatment for conditions like anxiety, depression, and ADHD with practical life skills training in areas like emotional regulation, executive functioning, and building confidence.

The McKinney center offers both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, giving young adults flexibility based on their needs. They're already accepting referrals from families and healthcare providers.

Executive Director Hope Windsor says the key is meeting young adults exactly where they are in life. "We recognize emerging adulthood as a distinct developmental phase," she explained in a statement, comparing it to how their Academy program serves adolescents with age-appropriate care.

The timing couldn't be better. Mental health challenges among young adults have surged in recent years, yet many age out of teen programs without finding adult services that understand their unique transition phase.

BasePoint's expansion reflects growing recognition that one-size-fits-all mental health care doesn't work. By the end of 2028, the Texas-based organization plans to operate 10 BreakThrough locations across the state, potentially serving thousands of young adults who previously fell through the cracks.
