Miami Airport Expansion Creates 200 Jobs in Aviation Sector

A leading aviation company just cut the ribbon on a major facility expansion that's bringing hundreds of good jobs to Miami.

AAR opened its newly expanded aircraft maintenance facility at Miami International Airport this week, adding more than 100,000 square feet of workspace. The facility will handle heavy maintenance for commercial airlines and is expected to welcome its first aircraft this fall.

The expansion creates 200 new full-time positions with AAR, adding to the company's existing workforce of over 1,300 employees across Florida. The new facility will support three heavy maintenance lines, meeting growing demand from airline customers who trust AAR for aircraft repairs and upkeep.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava celebrated the investment, noting that MIA serves as the county's largest economic engine. The project strengthens South Florida's position as a global aviation leader while creating career opportunities for local residents.

AAR is already actively hiring for the new roles through partnerships with local schools and training programs. This workforce development pipeline ensures community members can access these aviation careers without having to leave the region.

The Ripple Effect spreads beyond the 200 direct jobs. Miami International Airport already generates $212 billion in business revenue for the region and handles more flights to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other U.S. airport. This expansion reinforces that position while the airport undergoes an unprecedented $14 billion in improvements and upgrades.

AAR Chairman and CEO John M. Holmes said the expansion reflects both the strength of their operations and customer confidence in their work. The company collaborated with the airport, construction partners Ryan Companies and HPM, and federal, state, and local officials to make the project happen.
