Michigan Credit Union Awards $13.5K to 22 Students
A Michigan credit union just gave 22 high school seniors a total of $13,500 in scholarships to help launch their college dreams. Among them is Gabriela DiCosmo, an Eisenhower High School grad heading to Miami University to study how she can give back to her community.
Christian Financial Credit Union in Michigan just handed out $13,500 in scholarships to 22 high school seniors ready to start their next chapter. The awards came through the Bathanti‑D'Agostino Memorial Scholarship and Catholic and Christian high school scholarships.
Gabriela DiCosmo from Eisenhower High School received one of ten $750 memorial scholarships. She's heading to Miami University this fall to study advertising and marketing, with plans to use her degree to help her community.
During high school, DiCosmo stayed busy with environmental club, Project Outreach, and student council. Her application stood out among a competitive pool of applicants who each had to submit transcripts, recommendation letters, a resume, and an essay about how they embody "People Helping People."
"We were truly impressed by the depth and sincerity of this year's applications," said Christine Quitter, Vice President of Community Outreach at Christian Financial. "Each student brought something unique to the table, making the selection process incredibly difficult."

The ten memorial scholarship winners came from schools across metro Detroit, including Grosse Pointe, Plymouth, Fraser, and Detroit. Another 12 students from Catholic and Christian high schools received $500 scholarships, selected by their individual schools for their academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.
The Ripple Effect
These scholarships represent more than financial help. They recognize students who've already started making their communities better through service, leadership, and dedication to helping others.
By investing in young people who embody the credit union's "People Helping People" philosophy, Christian Financial is creating a multiplier effect. Twenty-two students will carry those values into their careers, potentially touching thousands of lives in the years ahead.
DiCosmo's goal to use advertising and marketing to serve her community shows exactly why these scholarships matter. The winners aren't just academically strong; they're already thinking about how to give back.
Supporting the next generation of community leaders is an investment that keeps paying forward.
