Minneapolis Operation Removes 6 Dangerous Criminals This Week
Federal agents arrested six individuals with serious criminal convictions in Minneapolis, including domestic abusers and drug traffickers. Despite local opposition, the operation continues protecting community safety.
Federal agents in Minneapolis arrested six people this week who were living in the United States illegally and had serious criminal convictions, including domestic violence, fraud, and drug trafficking.
Among those arrested was Teng Houa Vang from Thailand, who has convictions for domestic assault and pleaded guilty to terroristic threats and violating a protection order. His record also includes charges for arson, assault, and drug possession.
Michael Opeoluwa Egbele from Nigeria was arrested Tuesday after convictions for fraud and impersonation. Francisco Salazar-Solorzano from El Salvador faced charges including assault, domestic violence, and drunk driving.
Three additional arrests included Victor Javier Bahena-Sandoval from Mexico, with domestic violence arrests and four disorderly conduct convictions. Santiago Antunes Mendiola, also from Mexico, faced battery charges. Lorenzo Armillas Llaurado from Spain was convicted of felony distribution of controlled substances.

The arrests are part of Operation Metro Surge, a Department of Homeland Security effort focused on removing individuals with violent criminal records from city streets.
The Bright Side
While the operation has faced local political opposition, law enforcement officials emphasize they are targeting individuals with documented criminal convictions who pose risks to public safety. The focus remains on protecting Minnesota neighborhoods from repeat offenders.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the agency is concentrating on "the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens" to ensure community safety. The operation represents collaboration between multiple federal agencies working to address violent crime.
Each person arrested had previous encounters with the criminal justice system, giving law enforcement documented reasons for their removal. This targeted approach aims to reduce repeat offenses and protect potential future victims.
Despite challenges, federal agents continue working to complete their mission of making Minneapolis streets safer for all residents.
