Minnesota Artmobile Brings Free Art to Towns This Summer

Imagine a studio on wheels pulling up to your town, filled with art supplies and creative projects you can make and take home for free. That's exactly what Gail Holinka's Artmobile does for communities across southern Minnesota.

The mobile art lab rolls into day camps, festivals, schools, and block parties throughout the summer. Volunteers set up stations, help participants create projects, and clean up afterward, making art accessible to everyone regardless of artistic experience or budget.

This year's theme celebrates America's 250th anniversary with patriotic projects. The Artmobile's schedule already includes five events from June through September, including Worthington High School's new student welcome, Westbrook Days, and King Turkey Day.

"We have all the materials and supplies inside the Artmobile," Holinka explains. "We travel to locations where we set everything up and everybody comes and does art with us and takes it."

The program runs entirely on volunteer power, grants, and sponsors. Anyone interested in helping can reach out through the Artmobile's Facebook page to join the team making creativity accessible across Nobles County and beyond.
