Missing Texas Girl Found Safe After 6-Month Search

A father celebrating his daughter's fourth birthday this week has the best gift imaginable: his little girl is finally home safe.

After a six-month search spanning multiple states, Haltom City police found the missing child hidden in a Dallas County apartment on April 3. She was unharmed and has been reunited with her father, who had legal custody but hadn't seen her since 2023.

The father first reported his daughter missing in September 2025, just before her birthday. Detective E. Madigan and the Haltom City Police Department launched an extensive investigation that tracked leads across North Texas and beyond.

The search proved challenging as the child's mother and several maternal family members repeatedly refused to show the girl to authorities. In some cases, they provided false information about her whereabouts. Law enforcement in other states made contact with the mother at least twice but saw no sign of a child traveling with her.

Throughout the months-long search, investigators received only a single Snapchat photo as proof the child was alive. In March 2026, they were offered a video call that turned out to be a ruse, falsely showing the child safe in California when she was actually still in Texas.

The breakthrough came when detectives partnered with federal and local agencies to execute search warrants in Denton and Dallas counties. That's when they found the little girl and brought her home.

The Ripple Effect

This case showcases how cooperation between law enforcement agencies can make all the difference. The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, Denton County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, IRS, and Prosper Police Department all contributed their expertise and resources to bring this child home.

Three maternal family members now face felony charges for interference with child custody. The grandmother and aunt were among those arrested during the search that located the child.
