Missouri Car Show Raises Autism Support Despite Rain
Rain couldn't stop car lovers from gathering at the 9th annual Autos 4 Autism Car Show in Farmington, Missouri. The event raised funds to provide free autism support programs for families across the community.
When storm clouds rolled over Farmington, Missouri, organizers of the Autos 4 Autism Car Show wondered if anyone would brave the weather. Dozens of car enthusiasts showed up anyway, admiring 80 years of automotive history while supporting families affected by autism.
The 9th annual car show at United Memorial Methodist Church brought together classic car owners and spectators for a cause that touches thousands of families. Hope 4 Autism, the organization behind the event, uses proceeds to offer free programs that help people on the spectrum build life skills and lasting relationships.
"We have a training program and a peer program which help to build and maintain relationships in their lives, which is really important," said Jessica Grunewald, co-founder and assistant director for Hope 4 Autism. The programs serve individuals from age 13 and up, providing support that continues well into adulthood.
Competing vehicles filled eight divisions, from classics built in 1939 and earlier to modern cars from 2000 onward. Special interest categories and club participation awards gave every type of car lover a chance to shine while making a difference.
The car show is just one piece of Hope 4 Autism's fundraising efforts during Autism Acceptance Month. The organization will host its 11th annual Drag Races on April 25 at the Bonne Terre drag strip, where dirt and rooster tails will fly for a good cause.
The Ripple Effect
Every dollar raised helps families access programs at no cost, removing financial barriers that often keep people from getting the support they need. Hope 4 Autism runs multiple initiatives throughout the year, including Dress to Impress, Visions for Hope, and Toys 4 Hope, all designed to help individuals on the spectrum thrive in their communities.
When people care more about a cause than the weather forecast, real change happens.
