Mom Saves Choking Baby With CPR She Learned From Videos

Sadie Robertson never thought she'd need to use the CPR skills she learned from watching videos online. But when her 8-month-old daughter Kit began choking on a snack this week, that preparation became the difference between life and death.

The 28-year-old "Duck Dynasty" star was preparing dinner while Kit sat in her high chair eating a snack. Within seconds, the situation turned critical.

Robertson's mother pulled Kit from the chair and placed her in Sadie's arms just as the baby stopped breathing. While her mom called 911 and family members moved the other children downstairs, Robertson started CPR.

"I am one of those people who likes to be prepared for all situations, so I've watched several videos while hoping and praying I would never have to use this knowledge," Robertson wrote on Instagram Saturday. "I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do."

The moment felt guided by both preparation and faith. Robertson remembers asking out loud what to do, then immediately starting the lifesaving steps she had studied.

After following the protocol for a choking baby and performing CPR, Kit coughed and began breathing again. The paramedics arrived moments later.

Robertson rode with Kit in the ambulance to the hospital while her husband Christian Huff followed behind. He later told her he saw a rainbow over the ambulance during the entire drive.

Kit spent one night in the hospital for observation and made a full recovery. Within hours, she was charming the nurses and acting like her normal happy self.
