Morocco Approves 109 Cannabis Products for Medical Use

Morocco has quietly become a leader in regulated medical cannabis, with 109 therapeutic products now available in over 600 stores across the country.

The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities reports that authorized pharmaceutical companies have developed 50 CBD-based dietary supplements and 50 cosmetic items. All products have been registered with Morocco's Agency for Medicines and Health Products and approved for public sale.

Mohamed El Guerrouj, the agency's director, says the country is moving forward "with calm and responsibility." The approach balances public health priorities with emerging economic opportunities in the therapeutic cannabis sector.

Morocco's pharmaceutical industry can now produce cannabis-based medicines containing both CBD and THC for specific medical conditions. Doctors must prescribe these treatments, ensuring patient safety remains the top priority.

The shift represents a major change in how cannabis-derived compounds are viewed. Khalid Sair, Director General at the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health, notes that CBD is increasingly recognized as a serious field of scientific research worldwide.
