Morocco Building World's 2nd Largest Stadium for 2030

Morocco is building one of the most ambitious football stadiums ever constructed, and new footage shows the massive project is right on track.

The Grand Stade Hassan II is taking shape in El Mansouria, about 25 miles north of Casablanca. When completed in 2028, the 115,000-seat venue will be Africa's largest football stadium and the second biggest in the world.

Fresh construction footage reveals the scale of this engineering marvel. Extensive earthworks and foundation work are transforming the vast site into what promises to be one of football's most distinctive venues.

The design itself tells a story of Moroccan culture. Architects from Populous partnered with Moroccan firm Oualalou + Choi to create a stunning tent-like aluminum roof inspired by the traditional moussem festival. The structure celebrates Morocco's heritage while embracing modern innovation.

The stadium will serve as home to Morocco's national team and two domestic powerhouses, Raja CA and Wydad AC. Beyond the massive seating bowl, the venue includes elevated gardens, expansive public spaces, and five hospitality levels that can welcome 12,000 VIP guests.

The Moroccan government is investing roughly 375 million pounds into the project. But the stadium sits within an even larger vision: a 100-hectare sports and entertainment district that will transform the entire region.
