Morocco Launches 305 MW Solar Project Across Six Regions

Morocco is building a brighter future with solar energy, launching construction on six photovoltaic power plants that will generate 305 megawatts of clean electricity across the country. The Noor Atlas program, announced by Morocco's national utility ONEE and sustainable energy agency MASEN, represents a major leap forward in the nation's commitment to renewable power.

The six solar facilities will span diverse regions from Tan-Tan in the south to Jerada in the northeast, bringing sustainable energy infrastructure to communities across Morocco. Construction begins immediately in Ain Béni Mathar, Boudnib, Bouanane, Enjil, Tata, and Tan-Tan, with electricity flowing to homes and businesses starting in July 2027.

International partners are backing Morocco's solar ambitions with both their wallets and their expertise. Germany's KfW development bank and the European Investment Bank are providing affordable financing, while Morocco's Bank of Africa adds commercial funding to keep the project moving forward.
