Morocco Launches Tech Mentorship for Young Women

Young women across Morocco are stepping into tech careers thanks to a new mentorship program that's already delivering results. Within weeks of launch, more than 80% of participants secured professional internships at Capgemini, one of the world's leading technology companies.

The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform partnered with Capgemini to create the program as part of Morocco's ambitious "Morocco Digital 2030" strategy. Female students from five universities across the country were matched with experienced mentors from Capgemini's women's leadership network.

The first cohort includes students from universities in Tangier, Settat, Casablanca, Fez, and Khouribga. These young women are receiving individualized mentoring, career guidance, and workshops covering artificial intelligence, leadership skills, and professional development.

Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni emphasized why this matters beyond individual careers. "Competitiveness is built with all talents," she explained at the program's launch event in Rabat. "If we want to succeed in our digital transition, we must fully integrate young women into technological sectors."

One participating student shared how mentoring transformed her outlook. "We benefit from real advice, a clearer understanding of digital professions, and direct access to companies," she said. For many, the program bridges the gap between classroom learning and professional reality.

The Ripple Effect

The initiative represents more than career opportunities for individual students. By expanding access to technology careers for women, Morocco is strengthening its entire digital ecosystem and building the skilled workforce needed for its 2030 goals.

Badra Hamdaoua, Managing Director of Capgemini Morocco, noted the speed of impact. "Women's leadership is built through the transmission and opening of opportunities," she said. "When institutional and corporate commitment converge, the impact is immediate."

Mentors are seeing the transformation firsthand. "This program creates a genuine professional relationship," one mentor explained. "It allows us to concretely support career paths, share benchmarks, and open up perspectives often perceived as distant."

The program goes beyond simple networking, offering structured support that includes access to professional communities, soft skills training, and guidance on navigating the tech industry. These tools help students build confidence while developing practical expertise.

Morocco's approach demonstrates how public and private partnerships can create real pathways for underrepresented groups in technology. The fast results prove that targeted support makes a measurable difference when organizations commit to change.
