Myrtle Beach's SkyWheel Launches Community Cleanup Program

A giant Ferris wheel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is helping keep Myrtle Beach beautiful, one volunteer at a time.

SkyWheel Myrtle Beach kicked off its new SkyWheel Cares program Thursday morning with a community beach cleanup along the Grand Strand. Volunteers met at the iconic boardwalk attraction before spreading out to clean a stretch of beach for an hour.

The timing couldn't be better. SkyWheel is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and wanted to give back to the community that's supported it since opening in 2011.

Organizers made joining easy. They provided all the cleanup supplies, including gloves and trash bags, so volunteers could just show up and help. After the cleanup, participants enjoyed complimentary snacks and refreshments together.
