NASA Finds Rocky Earth-Sized Planet 92 Light-Years Away

NASA's planet-hunting satellite just found a rocky world remarkably similar to Earth, and astronomers are excited about what it could teach us.

The exoplanet, called TOI-4616 b, sits just 92 light-years from our solar system. That might sound far, but in cosmic terms, it's practically a neighbor.

NASA's TESS satellite spotted the planet orbiting a small red dwarf star. Follow-up studies revealed something special: TOI-4616 b has a radius about 1.2 times Earth's size and weighs between 1.5 and 3 times as much as our home planet.
