😊 Feel Good

The Nashville Predators Foundation just wrapped its most generous season ever, distributing over $4 million to Middle Tennessee communities. In one day alone, 199 local nonprofits received grants totaling more than $855,000.

The Nashville Predators Foundation handed out its biggest single donation ever this week, giving $855,642.88 to 199 Middle Tennessee charities in one ceremony at Bridgestone Arena.

The Helper Grants program supports organizations working with youth and families across the region. This year's grants will directly impact more than 1 million people in Middle Tennessee.

"This is our favorite day of the year, as it is the culmination of all the work our organization does throughout the season," said Rebecca King, Vice President of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Predators Foundation. The Foundation distributed over $4 million total this season through direct cash and in-kind support.

The program honors Gerry Helper, who spent 24 years with the Nashville Predators and retired in 2021 after four decades in the NHL. He now serves on the Foundation's board and watched his namesake program reach new heights.

The Ripple Effect

Since launching 28 years ago, the Predators Foundation has awarded more than $11.2 million in grants to Nashville and Middle Tennessee organizations. The recipient list reads like a who's who of community care, from the Boys & Girls Clubs and Make-A-Wish Foundation to smaller grassroots groups like Nashville Diaper Connection and Food for the Soul.

Organizations receiving grants ranged from autism support services and hospice care to arts programs and youth sports leagues. Each dollar goes toward programs helping kids thrive, families stay healthy, and communities grow stronger.

Helper reflected on watching the program expand alongside Nashville's growth. "To be where we are today and able to give out more than $850,000 to help so many in Middle Tennessee is so meaningful," he said.

The Foundation accepts grant applications year-round, with information available on the Nashville Predators website. As Smashville continues rallying behind its hockey team, that community spirit translates into real resources for neighbors in need.
