Nashville Spring Volunteer Events Need Your Help
Three volunteer opportunities are calling Nashville residents this April to clean up storm debris, celebrate spring at gardens, and welcome Japanese culture downtown. Each event offers different ways to give back to the community this season.
Spring is bringing Nashville neighbors together with three volunteer opportunities that need helping hands this April.
The first chance to serve arrives Saturday, April 4, when Hands On Nashville organizes storm debris cleanup in Davidson from 9 AM to noon. Volunteers aged 18 and up will sort piles of debris left behind by Winter Storm Fern, preparing materials for pickup and helping neighbors recover from winter damage.
That same Saturday, Cheekwood Gardens in Belle Meade is hosting its Great Spring Art Hop across two shifts. Volunteers will guide guests through craft stations, assist with egg hunts, and greet families celebrating the season among blooming gardens.
The following weekend brings the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival to downtown on Saturday, April 11, with three volunteer shifts available. The Japan-America Society of Tennessee welcomes helpers aged 13 and up (with an adult) or 17 and older to work independently.

Festival volunteers will support a full day of Japanese music, dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, anime displays, and traditional cuisine. Tasks include helping exhibitors and vendors with setup, unloading equipment, greeting guests, and distributing programs throughout the family-friendly celebration.
Sunny's Take
These events show how spring cleaning can mean more than tidying your own yard. Whether sorting storm debris, spreading joy at a garden party, or welcoming thousands to a cultural festival, Nashville volunteers transform seasonal energy into community care.
United Way of Greater Nashville coordinates registration through their Hands On platform, making it simple to find the right fit for your schedule and interests.
Spring volunteer work offers something for everyone this April in Nashville.
