Nevada County Seeks Volunteers for Armed Forces Day Event

Hundreds of volunteers will gather at Nevada County Airport this May to create something special for the people who serve our country.

Nevada County is recruiting volunteers for its Armed Forces Day celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The free, family-friendly event honors active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families while bringing neighbors together for a day of appreciation and fun.

The celebration features airplane rides that support local aviation scholarships, a classic car show, food trucks, live music, and a kids' zone. Flyovers and informational booths representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces will also be part of the festivities.

"Volunteers are what make this event possible," said Nevada County Veterans Service Officer David West. "This is a great way to give back, show appreciation and be part of something that matters to our veterans and their families."
