New Jersey Library Turns Into Mini Golf Course for Charity

A library in Harding Township, New Jersey, proved that fundraising can be both creative and fun when it turned its stacks into a mini golf course for an entire weekend.

The Kemmerer Library hosted the unique event on February 20 and 21, organized by the Friends of Kemmerer Library. Friday evening featured a cocktail party where adults could enjoy mini golf after hours, complete with music and drinks as they navigated holes designed around the bookshelves.

Director Amanda Richardson said the relaxed atmosphere made for a memorable evening as neighbors gathered to support library programs. The setting gave people a rare chance to experience their community space in a completely new way.

Saturday transformed into a high energy family day that filled the library with laughter and friendly competition. Young golfers received goody bags and stuffed animal prizes, turning the library into a vibrant hub where generations could connect.

The weekend's success depended on strong community partnerships. More than 20 local businesses sponsored the event, including Asian Blossom Bistro, Heath Village, Madison Area YMCA, and The Harding Candy Store.

Library staff and volunteers worked to create an engaging experience for everyone who walked through the doors. The funds raised will directly support library programming, book collections, and community initiatives that serve residents year round.

Richardson emphasized that the fundraiser demonstrated how the library serves as more than just a place for books. It's a cornerstone of community life where creativity and connection happen naturally.
