Newlyweds Surprise 140 Guests With Viral Grease Dance

Natalie Chernow and Jesse Rodriguez knew they wanted their wedding to be unforgettable, but nobody expected them to channel Danny and Sandy in the middle of their reception.

The couple married on October 26 at Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona, surrounded by 140 guests who thought they'd seen the last dance of the evening. After their traditional first dance ended, the opening notes of "You're the One That I Want" from Grease filled the room, and the newlyweds launched into a perfectly choreographed routine.

"They went nuts!" Chernow told reporters. Her parents, both huge Grease fans, screamed from their seats as their daughter and new son-in-law nailed every move from the 1978 musical's carnival scene.

Rodriguez even recreated Danny's iconic shirt reveal, stripping off his white button-down to show a tight black shirt underneath. Guests waved napkins in the air and cheered as the couple spun, posed, and pointed their way through the high-energy routine.

The surprise was born just two weeks earlier when the couple attended another wedding together. When Grease came on, they both raced to the dance floor and looked at each other with the same thought: this had to be part of their celebration.

"We already knew we wanted a sentimental first dance, but we'd been searching for a fun, unexpected moment to follow it," Chernow explained. They went home, watched the movie for inspiration, and spent the next two weeks creating their own version of the routine.

Only their DJ knew what was coming. Everyone else, from the wedding party to both sets of parents, was completely in the dark until the music started.
