NH Casino Donates Record $2.4M to Charities in One Month

A casino in Nashua, New Hampshire just made the largest monthly charitable donation in state history, handing $2.4 million to 12 local nonprofits in June alone.

The Nash operates under New Hampshire's charity casino model, where a portion of every dollar gambled goes directly to local organizations. The casino opened in March 2025, and in just 16 months has already generated $28.3 million for New Hampshire nonprofits.

The June donation topped the casino's previous record of $2.3 million set in March 2026. Revenue came from games of chance, historical horse racing machines, and video lottery terminals, all funneled straight to organizations serving their communities.

Among the recipients, Advocates Building Lasting Equality and James E. Coffey American Legion Post 3 each received nearly $229,000. The Nashua Community Music School, New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition, Hudson Community Food Pantry, and Greater Nashua Mental Health Center each got more than $196,000.

For Greater Nashua Mental Health Center, the timing couldn't be better. A natural gas explosion and fire recently destroyed its Amherst Street facility, yet the center still serves over 5,000 patients annually and provides $1.5 million in uncompensated care each year.

"We are grateful for the support from The Nash, ensuring thousands of community members continue to gain access to high-quality behavioral health care, regardless of their ability to pay," said Chief Operating Officer Maureen Ryan.

The Ripple Effect

The Nash recently shortened nonprofit partnership periods from seven days to five, allowing even more organizations to benefit from gaming revenue throughout the year. Dozens of charities across southern New Hampshire have already partnered with the casino since opening.

Beyond charity contributions, The Nash sent more than $2.25 million to state education funds in June alone. Under New Hampshire law, casino gaming revenue must be split between charitable organizations and state programs, creating a win for communities on multiple levels.

General Manager Eric Althaus says the casino is "always looking for ways to be more inclusive and partner with more nonprofits." With $12.5 million donated in 2025 alone, the model is proving that gaming revenue can become genuine community support when structured right.
