Nigeria Launches Platform to Scale Innovators Nationwide

Innovators across Nigeria just got a major boost that could level the playing field for entrepreneurs far beyond the usual tech hubs.

Africa Innovation Foundry (AIF) officially launched in Abuja this month with a bold promise: deliver world-class startup support to all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. That means founders in Katsina, Sokoto, and Maiduguri will get the same access to training, capital connections, and mentorship as their counterparts in Lagos or Abuja.

The platform targets sectors where innovation can make the biggest impact. Healthcare, education, agriculture, fintech, clean energy, and digital technology startups will receive structured support through regional incubation labs, bootcamps, and investor pitch events.

"Whether you are in Katsina, Sokoto, Maiduguri, or Abuja, you deserve access to the same opportunities that can turn your ideas into global solutions," said Deji Garuba, Executive Director of AIF. "We're building a system that develops talent where it is and empowers communities through innovation that truly matters."

What makes AIF different is its region-specific approach. Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all model, the platform tailors programs to match the unique strengths and development needs of each zone. A farming innovation hub in the agricultural north looks different from a fintech accelerator in the commercial south, and AIF is designed to reflect that reality.

The launch event brought together government officials, venture capitalists, academics, and tech ecosystem leaders. Attendees participated in keynote sessions on economic transformation and a fireside chat exploring how policy, capital, and talent can shape Africa's innovation future.

The Ripple Effect

When innovation support reaches underserved regions, the benefits multiply fast. Local entrepreneurs create solutions for local problems, which means jobs stay in communities that need them most.
