Five young boys who were found wandering the streets of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, are now safe in government care while officials search for their families.

Some of these children have been waiting for their families for years. A few have been in the temporary shelter for as long as four years, while others arrived more recently within the past few months.

The ministry is clear that this isn't meant to be a permanent solution. The facility was designed as a short-term space, and officials say prolonged stays aren't ideal for children who haven't committed any crimes.
