Nigerian Editor Joins Africa's Fight Against Fake News

A Nigerian journalist is joining forces with fact-checkers across Africa to tackle one of the internet's biggest problems: misinformation.

Kemi Busari, editor of DUBAWA Nigeria, was elected to represent West Africa on the Africa Facts Advisory Committee. The committee guides strategy and strengthens partnerships among fact-checking organizations working across the continent.

Fifty-one member organizations from across Africa participated in the election. The newly formed committee now includes representatives from all five regions: North, East, West, Central, and Southern Africa.

As DUBAWA's editor, Busari has already made waves in fighting false information. He's led multiple projects to stop misinformation and help newsrooms improve how they verify stories before publishing.

"I am honoured to have been elected as a member, and I look forward to contributing to the committee's work in promoting information integrity and strengthening democracy through fact-checking," Busari said.
