Nigerian Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Forest Operation

A kidnapped woman is back home with her family today thanks to the quick actions of a coordinated security team in Enugu State, Nigeria.

The woman was abducted Friday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. in Ezimo Community, located in Udenu Local Government Area. Within hours of receiving the report, a joint rescue operation was already underway.

Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe explained that Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa immediately directed the local Divisional Police Officer to mobilize a response team. That team included police operatives, Nigerian Army soldiers, Neighbourhood Watch members, and Forest Guards working together.

The rescuers tracked the kidnappers to Agu Orba Forest along the Ohebe-Orba axis. When the suspects spotted the approaching team, they opened fire, but the security forces responded and ultimately forced the criminals to flee.

The woman was found unharmed. After being debriefed by authorities, she was reunited with her family the same day she was taken.
