Nigerian Soldiers Rescue Kidnap Victims in 3-State Operation

When heavy rain pounded a terrorist hideout in northwest Nigeria on July 19, three kidnapped farmers saw their chance and ran for freedom. Military patrols found them hours later, five days after armed groups had abducted them from their fields in Zamfara State.

Their rescue marked one of three successful operations conducted by Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops across Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states over the weekend. The coordinated efforts disrupted criminal networks and brought victims home safely.

In Zamfara State's Kaura Namoda area, residents made a distress call on July 20 when terrorists attempted to force their way into homes. Soldiers arrived quickly enough to send the attackers fleeing before anyone could be taken. The troops stayed in the neighborhood to prevent the group from returning.

The military operation also intercepted a vehicle carrying 10 motorcycles believed to be headed for terrorist use during a routine checkpoint stop in Kebbi State. Four additional suspects were arrested when they arrived to collect the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator.

These wins reflect months of sustained pressure on criminal networks operating in Nigeria's northwest region. When communities see military forces respond quickly to threats, trust builds and more people share vital information with authorities.

The three rescued farmers are now back with their families after being handed over to proper authorities. Their safe return sends a powerful message to other victims and their loved ones that rescue efforts continue around the clock.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, speaking for the Joint Task Force (North West), thanked civilians for providing timely information that made these operations possible. Community cooperation has become essential to tracking terrorist movements and stopping attacks before they happen.

The suspects and recovered motorcycles remain in custody as investigations continue into the supply networks supporting terrorist operations. Cutting off equipment and resources makes it harder for criminal groups to carry out kidnappings and other attacks.

Military commanders praised troops for their professionalism and quick response times that prevented additional abductions and brought victims home safely, proving that coordinated security efforts can protect communities and disrupt terrorism.
