Norway Invests €8.4M in Ukraine's Green Energy Recovery
Norway is backing Ukraine's renewable energy comeback with €8.4 million to help rebuild war-damaged infrastructure and power a greener future. Four companies will receive funding to build wind farms, restore hydropower plants, and strengthen pharmaceutical supply chains.
While war has devastated Ukraine's energy grid, Norway is stepping up with over €8.4 million to help the country rebuild stronger and greener than before.
The Norwegian government announced funding for four major projects aimed at restoring Ukraine's energy independence through renewable power. The investment comes as Ukraine's energy sector faces massive losses from ongoing conflict, but the country refuses to give up on its ambitious clean energy goals.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide explained that the funding helps reduce risks for companies willing to invest in a war-torn nation. The support creates opportunities where uncertainty might otherwise keep businesses away.
The largest grant, €5.1 million, goes to Norwegian company Fenix Repower AS to build a wind power plant that will generate enough renewable energy to power thousands of homes annually. Another Norwegian firm, Malthe Winje, received €2.1 million to bring six small hydropower plants back online after years of sitting idle.
Ukrainian companies are getting support too. DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, secured nearly €500,000 for a massive 650-megawatt wind energy project expected to finish by 2028. That's enough capacity to power a mid-sized city.

Beyond energy, pharmaceutical company Farmasoft received €589,000 to build a modern warehouse meeting EU standards. This will create a more efficient medicine supply chain for a country where reliable healthcare access has become even more critical.
The funding comes through Norway's Nansen Support Programme, designed specifically to help businesses take calculated risks in challenging environments. Some agreements run for one year, while others extend for several years to support long-term rebuilding.
The Ripple Effect
Norway's investment does more than just restore power. It signals to other nations and companies that Ukraine's future is worth betting on, even amid ongoing challenges.
Every megawatt of renewable energy Ukraine adds makes the country more energy independent and aligned with European green standards. The projects create jobs, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and help Ukraine integrate with EU energy markets.
Two additional energy sector agreements are still being finalized and will be announced soon, suggesting this is just the beginning of Norway's commitment to Ukraine's green recovery.
In the darkness of conflict, these projects are literally bringing light back to Ukraine while building the foundation for a cleaner, more resilient tomorrow.
