Norway's Scatec Plans $5B Green Energy Boost for Egypt

One of Norway's leading renewable energy companies just committed to transforming Egypt's green economy with an investment that could reshape the region's sustainable future.

Scatec, which already operates $5 billion worth of renewable energy projects across Egypt, announced plans to invest an additional $5 billion over the next two years. Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid met with Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog and Norwegian Ambassador Erik Husem to discuss the partnership. The Norwegian executives praised Egypt's commitment to creating a business environment where green technology can thrive.

"Egypt is one of our most strategic markets in Africa and the Middle East," Pilskog told officials during the meeting. He credited strong government support as the foundation for Scatec's success and ambitious expansion plans in the country.

Minister Farid highlighted Egypt's advantages as a regional clean energy hub, including its strategic location bridging Africa, Europe, and Asia, along with advanced infrastructure and extensive trade agreements. The government is developing renewable energy certificates to accelerate the country's green transition and attract more international investment.
