Norwegian Skier Klaebo Ties Winter Olympics Gold Record

Friday the 13th turned out to be anything but unlucky for 29-year-old Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, who just tied the all-time Winter Olympics gold medal record with his eighth victory.

The Norwegian cross-country skier claimed gold in the men's 10-kilometer interval start race at the Milan Cortina Olympics, joining an elite club of just four athletes who've reached this historic milestone. All three others who share this record are fellow Norwegians who've since retired.

France had its own reason to celebrate as 23-year-old Mathis Desloges won silver, his second of his first Olympics. The underdog skier finished just 4.9 seconds behind Klaebo, proving his rigorous training paid off.
