NVIDIA Opens Singapore AI Lab for Real-World Robotics

Singapore just became home to NVIDIA's newest AI research lab, and this one isn't about chatbots or image generators.

The chip giant announced its first research hub in Singapore during the ATxSummit this week. The lab will focus on embodied AI, which means teaching machines to interact with the physical world through robots, autonomous vehicles, and automated systems.

This marks NVIDIA's second research presence in Asia Pacific and signals Singapore's shift from asking what AI can create on screens to what it can actually do in warehouses, hospitals, and streets. The lab will partner with universities, industry groups, and government agencies to develop technologies that work in real environments.

Singapore isn't stopping there. The government announced plans for a new testing ground launching later this year where companies can design, deploy, and test commercial AI robotics systems together. Early participants include Certis, DHL, Grab, and QuikBot, with trials covering food delivery, parcel movement, cleaning, and security patrols.

The approach focuses on supporting existing workers rather than replacing them. Singapore has also partnered with robotics firms like Slamtec and Unitree Robotics through a new Centre for Intelligent Robotics initiative.
