By high school, prescription stimulants for ADHD added another layer to her addiction. When those prescriptions ended, she turned to street drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine, using anything that would keep her going.

The consequences were devastating. Valentine lost custody of her children and fell victim to human trafficking, exploited by people who saw her vulnerability. For years, she felt trapped in a cycle that seemed impossible to break.

Her first attempt at recovery came in 2017, but it took several tries before something finally clicked. This time, she found a sponsor and committed to working a recovery program day by day.
