Ohtani had been scratched from Friday's lineup to be with his family as they welcomed their second child in just 14 months. Their first daughter was born in April 2025, making the Ohtanis parents of two young children before Father's Day 2025.

But Ohtani didn't take much time away from the field. He returned to the lineup Saturday as the designated hitter, leading off against the Baltimore Orioles.
