Oklahoma Men's Gymnastics Wins 21st Conference Title

Freshman Nathan Roman soared to the nation's highest parallel bars score while helping Oklahoma men's gymnastics claim their 21st MPSF Championship in Berkeley, California. The Sooners posted a stunning 332.100 team total, crushing No. 3 Stanford by nearly five points and resetting their own national high score for the season.

But the numbers only tell part of the story. For the first time all season, Oklahoma hit 100% of their routines without a single major mistake.

"I'm super proud of them," said head coach Mark Williams, now in his 27th season. "That was the first meet that we've hit 100% of our routines."

The momentum started immediately when redshirt senior Fuzzy Benas stuck his vault landing, earning a 14.350 and his third career conference title. From that moment, the competition was chasing Oklahoma.

Three more Sooners claimed individual championships. Roman won parallel bars with a career-high 14.700, junior Nico Hamilton took horizontal bar with his personal best 14.300, and redshirt freshman Colby Aranda captured pommel horse with a 14.150.

Freshman Sasha Bogonosiuk set two career highs in the same meet, scoring 14.300 on floor exercise and 14.050 on still rings. In total, Oklahoma gymnasts achieved four career-best performances and notched eight scores of 14.000 or higher.

Twenty of Oklahoma's 21 MPSF titles have come under Williams' leadership since 1999. That's not just dominance, it's building a culture where young athletes consistently perform their best when it matters most.

Three freshmen won their first-ever conference titles on Saturday, showing that excellence gets passed down. When Benas nailed that opening vault, he wasn't just scoring points. He was showing the next generation how champions start a meet.

The Sooners now own the top three team scores in the entire country this season. Their perfect meet came at exactly the right moment, heading into NCAA Championships on April 17-18 in Champaign, Illinois.
