Olympic Gold Medalist Eve Muirhead Ends Retirement at 36

Eve Muirhead, who won Olympic gold for Great Britain in 2022, is ending her four-year retirement to compete at the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps. The Scottish curling champion will team up with Bobby Lammie, a two-time Olympic silver medalist, in the mixed doubles event.

"Once you get a bit fed up of something, you need to take a step to the side, put it to bed for a while and eventually the love will come back for it," Muirhead told Team GB. "That is what happened for me."

Muirhead's Olympic journey started when she was just nine years old, tagging along with her father Gordon to curling matches. At 11, she stayed up late to watch Britain win its first women's curling gold in 2002, dreaming that one day she'd do the same.

That dream became reality in 2022 when she brought home Britain's second women's curling gold medal. She announced her retirement five months later, thinking she'd closed the book on competitive curling for good.

But at 36, Muirhead isn't finished yet. She's tackled the women's team event across four Olympics, earning bronze in 2014 and gold in 2022. Now she's ready for a new challenge in mixed doubles, where she already holds a world championship title with Lammie from 2022.

The decision to return wasn't easy. Muirhead admitted feeling scared when she decided to come back, but the opportunity felt too good to pass up.
