When Vita Kalniņa and her husband Alexander Kalniņš showed up to watch Olympic hockey in Milan, they brought more than team spirit. The Latvian couple, who live in Germany, carried a large Greenland flag to show support for Denmark amid ongoing political tensions.

They waved the flag during warmups and again when Denmark scored the opening goal against Team USA. "We are Europeans, and I think as Europeans we must hold together," Kalniņš told reporters, emphasizing that Greenland's future should be decided by Greenlandic people.

Denmark took an early 2-1 lead in the first period, energizing the flag-waving fans. But the Americans had other plans, scoring three unanswered goals in the second period to take control of the game.

Brothers Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, along with brothers Jack and Quinn Hughes, all contributed points in the comeback. Fourteen different players scored or assisted as Team USA dominated with 47 shots on goal compared to Denmark's 21, finishing with a 6-3 victory.

Not everyone at the arena wanted politics mixed with sports. Danish fan Dennis Petersen said athletes compete for their countries, not as politicians, and the Games should stay focused on athletic achievement.
