Kandi Krush performs wrestling move in Women of Wrestling championship match

Olympic Hopeful Finds New Dream in Wrestling Ring

🦸 Hero Alert

After injuries ended her Olympic synchronized swimming dreams, Kandi Krush turned setbacks into comebacks through boxing and professional wrestling. Now she's inspiring young fans while rising through the ranks of Women of Wrestling.

When injuries and a toxic training environment shattered Kandi Krush's Olympic dreams in synchronized swimming, she refused to let that be the end of her story.

The athlete pivoted to professional boxing, tapping into the same work ethic that had driven her Olympic ambitions. She went undefeated in the ring, transforming her disappointment into a new path forward.

Then COVID-19 shut down boxing gyms across the country. Most people would have seen this as another crushing blow, but Krush saw it as a sign to explore something new.

Inspired by a movie featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, she decided to try professional wrestling despite never watching it growing up. When she saw an advertisement for tryouts with Women of Wrestling (WOW), she showed up before the doors even opened.

"Even if they call me to tell me that I'm cut, I'm going to show up," Krush told Fox News Digital. "You can't tell me no."

Her first-in, last-out mentality paid off. She quickly rose through the WOW ranks, eventually capturing the World Trios Championship with her team Top Tier.

Why This Inspires

The moment that defines Krush's journey came during an early title match. Her arm was injured and she was struggling on the canvas when a young girl in the crowd shouted, "Get up, Kandi Krush. You can do it!"

"I was like, you know what? I can do it," Krush recalled. "If she sees me get up and keep moving forward, then somewhere down the line when she's laying on the canvas in life, she'll hopefully find the strength to get up and keep fighting."

That connection with fans fuels everything Krush does now. She didn't get to inspire people from an Olympic podium, but she's found her platform anyway.

WOW, co-founded by Los Angeles Lakers minority owner Jeanie Buss, streams on Tubi and Vice TV. Season 5 will take place at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, giving even more young fans the chance to see Krush in action.

"I've always hoped for a platform where I can inspire the world to move mountains, one person at a time," she said. From synchronized swimming to boxing to wrestling, Krush proves that dreams don't die—they just evolve.
