Olympic Legend Allyson Felix Aims for 2028 Games at 42

The most decorated American track athlete in history just proved she's not done yet.

Allyson Felix retired from professional running in 2022 after five consecutive Olympic appearances and 11 total medals. Now the 42-year-old mother of two is lacing up her spikes again, training for a shot at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Felix made her Olympic debut at just 18 in Athens. By Tokyo 2020, she was 35, pregnant, and adding to her historic medal count while breaking barriers for athlete moms everywhere.

Her 7-year-old daughter Camryn recently learned what Olympic-level competition really means. When Camryn challenged her mom to a race during training, Felix didn't hold back and crossed the finish line first.

"She was in tears at the end, saying, 'Today I worked so hard,'" Felix says with a laugh. But the moment became a teaching opportunity about pursuing difficult goals and staying disciplined even when success isn't guaranteed.

Felix gave birth to her son Trey in 2024. Rather than seeing two young kids as obstacles to training, she views motherhood as an expansion of her identity and purpose.

Felix joined Momcozy's "Mom, and More" campaign alongside research astronaut Kellie Gerardi and Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani. The initiative challenges the outdated belief that motherhood requires shrinking your ambitions or putting other passions on hold.

"I love the idea that you are a mother and so much more," Felix explains. "You can be present for your children and you can also go after other passions of your heart."

Her comeback sends a powerful message to her kids about resilience and work ethic. They watch her balance training sessions, entrepreneurship, and family time without compromising on any front.

Felix believes pursuing ambitious goals while parenting shows children what dedication looks like in real life. Her daughter now understands that Mom's 31 combined medals across Olympics and World Championships didn't come from talent alone.

If Felix qualifies for the 2028 Games, she'll represent Team USA at 42, proving there's no expiration date on chasing your dreams.

Her children will watch from the stands as their mom races on the world's biggest stage, learning that becoming a parent doesn't mean giving up who you are.
