In a powerful demonstration of rehabilitative justice, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has extended a remarkable opportunity for redemption to 77 inmates across the state's correctional facilities. The governor's decision, carefully recommended by the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, reflects a nuanced approach to criminal justice that balances accountability with compassion. Attorney General Dr. Kayode Ajulo (SAN) detailed the rigorous selection process, which considered multiple factors including length of sentence served, inmate conduct, age, health conditions, and potential for successful reintegration.

Among the clemency measures, 12 convicts will be fully released, having demonstrated exemplary behavior and served significant portions of their sentences.
